What does it mean to be LGBTQ+ in the middle east? To most the thought seems oxymoronic, but it is not. That’s why today we will be talking about Tel Aviv Pride. Pride happens every year in June and amasses huge crowds.
Israel is considered one of the safe havens for LGBTQ+ in the middle east. 2018’s Tel Aviv Pride saw the coming together of over 250,000 people in support of LGBTQ+ support in the middle east.
While there were some unavoidable conflicts that happen in the region, the event was almost nothing but love, fun the sharing of individuality, joy, and most importantly pride. (Not to mention great middle eastern food)
The Mayor of Tel Aviv initiated the event with a great quote, “We will continue to break through the walls of hatred and reach a time when all people are equal in Israel”.
Almost everyone has a great time at Tel Aviv Pride. And why wouldn’t they? Tel Aviv pride takes place near the beaches of Tel Aviv. This means marching can be followed by a day at the beach!
Tel Aviv pride is so great because of the people who go to it. These people both within the LGBTQ+ community and its allies cheer on modern liberties and freedoms.
Were you looking for your next ‘gaycation’? We’d be our money that most of you were not considering the middle east, but we hope after reading through this you might just change your mind. Tel Aviv Pride is an amazing event in an amazing city.
