Borders of Adventure
Borders of Adventure covers the adventures of Becki, a British award winning writer and world traveler, and her travel experiences. What separates this blog from many others is its passionate reports on social, historical, political, and cultural events happening world wide. These are all integrated into her posts about travel and “destination inspiration.”
Starting in Vietnam, Becki began developing a passion for uncovering places of great diversity and deep culture. This is why she vowed to add a deeper meaning to her blog and make it stand out as something more than a place to view pretty pictures. She really strives to incorporate diversity and culture into her posts.
The apparent goal of the blog is to highlight the beauty in places through a voice of social conscience. This is so she can change perceptions of readers and show them the true beauty of an area in place of the superficial view that people get from photographs. Another goal of the blog is to shed light on the misunderstood parts of particular destinations and countries so her readers can see these areas from another point of view.
As she has already visited 53 countries, 22% of the world, Becki boasts the universal knowledge needed in making her blog deep and meaningful. Whenever she visits a city, she does not solely share photographs and stories of its beauty, but she also highlights the cultural significance, the local life, the traditions, and a social or historical fun fact. This is meant to interest and enlighten her readers. Examples of this would be her post that discusses the history of Tarragona, the first Roman city in Spain, and her post about her visit to Hiroshima that comments on the level of changes that it has undergone.
In summary, the blog provides readers with ways to have more meaningful travel by discussing cultural insights, sharing the history of locations, and showing different points of views to places that commonly are thought of negatively.
