The Netherlands is an incredibly small place relative to landmasses like Canada or Russia. The Netherlands small it is also incredibly densely populated. This is both in terms of people and of nature. According to Your Dutch Guide, “The beaches of Zeeland, the rolling hills of Limburg, the variety in Hoge Veluwe national park and freshwater delta of Bieschbosch are exquisite”. She really believes Holland’s nature is something special.
“I am a city girl at heart”, she goes on to say, “Buy that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate some happy little trees…and shrubs now and then”.
She also goes on to talk about how “From early August on a large part of The Netherlands turn a deep shade of purple once the heather plants start blooming”. She also thinks that “it can easily be compared to the blooming lavender fields of Provence” because of how beautiful it is.
The heather fields are particularly spectacular but can become rather hard to actually get to see. This is because, at times, dry summers can be the cause of many dead plants. It’s less than ideal, so book your trip for a more moderate – rainy season! There’s also tons of wildlife like cows and sheep to observe as well.
All in all, Holland’s nature and everything surrounding it is something you really need to see for yourself. We bet if you go you won’t be disappointed. There’s even more to it than we’ve talked about here.
