Atlanta is one of the most prominent cities in the U.S and is one of the largest in the South East. While many traveling through the south on road trips visiting family or friends may have busy schedules, here are some ideas on how to spend 2 days in Atlanta.
Atlanta proves to be a city worth everyone’s time and offers plenty of fun things and activities to do. For those that do have one or two days left over in their schedule, here is a two day itinerary made by ‘A Southern Traveler’ to experience the most in the big city.
Starting day 1 off with a huge brunch at the Ritz Carlton, a buffet of over 100 items and noted for providing the best breakfast in the whole state of Georgia. Following the scrumptious breakfast go visit the beautiful Swan House, which takes you all the way back to 1928, and the Atlanta history center, which offers a mindful insight into Georgia’s history, through Civil War exhibits and miles of gardens and trails.
From there, drive to the Georgia aquarium and allocate a solid 2-3 hours to wander, after that stop by next door to the World of Coca Cola in Centennial Park. Since being in the same vicinity, it makes sense to tour the CNN center and learn more about major media outlets and the detailing behind their news coverage. If in the mood for a southern burger, be sure to visit Vortex for the best burgers on the block.
After that, go explore the the Little Five Points area to shop, bar-hop and unwind. For those interested in experiencing the vibrant culture and entertainment Atlanta has to offer, checking for event tickets in Atlanta is a must. This way, you can catch a live performance or special event that could be the highlight of your trip.
On the second day a visit to the Emory Michael C. Carlos Museum is well worth it, as it’s a historical gem that houses over 16,000 artifacts of different kinds from different countries all over the world. The Fernbank Museum of Natural History along with the High Museum of Art are worth the visit as well. When all the art and history becomes overwhelming, go take a stroll along the beltline at the Krog Street market to shop at local and interesting boutiques and the impressive varieties of beer from Hop City.
If you still have some extra time leftover, be sure to drive 30 minutes north to Downtown Roswell, a more nonchalant community that has a wide variety of photography and art galleries as well shops and little cafes along the way. Two days might seem like not enough, but if being extra efficient, can seem just right.
