What is There to Do in Northern Ireland?

What is there to do in Northern Ireland? Ireland is incredibly interesting (and not to be confused with Scotland). Not only is it beautiful, rainy and full of history, but it is also filled with a history of political in-fighting. You see Ireland is split into 2 parts. 1 part is the Republic of Ireland. A sovereign state that is fully integrated as its own country in the European Union. But on top of the Republic of Ireland sits Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is actually not part of mainland Ireland but instead, it is part of the United Kingdom. Instead of using the Euro, Northern Ireland uses UK currencies. Now history aside this brings us back to the question asked at the beginning. What is there to do in Northern Ireland? This list is brought to you by irelandbeforeyoudie.com.

  • Visit Giant’s Causeway. Giant’s Causeway is a natural formation that can be referred to as ‘dramatic’. Ireland Before You Die says that the “natural wonder is comprised of around 40,000 polygonal basalt rock columns, formed by the ancient volcanic landscape and stretching along the coastline like a series of gigantic stepping stones”.
  • Visit Dunluce Castle. This castle is located right by the sea near the north Antrim Coast. There is a lot of history surrounding this castle such as evidence of a village that once surrounded it. There was also a tragic shipwreck that happened in 1857.

Northern Ireland is truly a magnificent place and you’d have to go yourself to really do it justice. That being said, looking at things to do is a great first step.
