Stress-Free Travel with Kids – A How-to Guide!

What do you picture as a vacation? Lying down on the beach? A margarita in hand? Nothing but the sounds of the ocean/sea splashing against the shoreline? These type of vacations are truly magical. They’re also really rare one you become a parent. What was a sigh of relief will often turn into a sigh of exasperation. That’s not the kids‘ fault (usually). They need time to grow and learn, and sometimes that can be exhausting. Today we want to help you regain that sigh of relief by going over some tips on Stress-free travel with kids. This list is brought to you by mother.ly and Danielle Leeds Kim.

  • Build in travel breaks. If you’re travelling by car you’re going to need to take some breaks, otherwise, your kids will become stir-crazy. Sometimes you can take a break just to take a nap, and other times you can usually use the break yourself.

  • Choose travel times wisely. If you have young kids it is incredibly important to travel when they are going to be the most pleasant. If it’s overnight this gives them the chance to sleep, if it’s early in the morning they can stay awake. Just make sure you know their schedules well (we’re sure you do). This is again the key to Stress-Free Travel with Kids.

  • Try to stay in a rented home rather than a hotel. It’s more relaxed this way and it gives you and your partner (if you bring one) more time to relax in a low-key actually relaxing environment afterwards.
